Hope, Hoping, and Faith

Hope, Hoping, and Faith

Leading Up To Today

We have been talking about seed time and harvest. In the natural, you must sow seed and work the garden. Mentioned in previous sermons was that your heart is your garden. When you allow the word of God, the seed, to transform in your heart then it becomes evident in the natural. We must work our garden to get the harvest though. We are suppose to work from the inside out. Our spirit must dominate the mind and our mind the body. You have faith, but you must grow your faith. Faith will make you work and will cause you to do something. So get past simply agreeing with Gods word to demonstrating and walking in God’s word.

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”

– Romans 12:3)

Hope has a part to play in the completion of your faith. This hope is described by the Greek word Elpis which means expectation or confidence. Biblical hope is based on faith because it is the confident anticipation of the ultimate fulfillment of that faith. You must desire change. That is where hope comes in. We must desire God’s will which is his word for your life. Then we must pray it and walk in it. Stand in faith, believe you receive when you pray. It all starts with hoping for something. Faith is what throws it into action.

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

– Mark 11:24

It all starts with hope and desire to change.  Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hope in its self does not bring change. It is the beginning of change but Faith in God’s word is what brings the change. Faith is the proof, the assurance, the title deed, the confirmation of things you hope for. Faith is the guarantee that the things you hope for wont stay in wishful thinking, but will bring your desires from the spiritual realm into the earthly realm. Hope is required and the forerunner to faith, so you must desire and hope for something but your faith is what will bring the change.

Looking at God’s Word

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

– Romans 15:13

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,”

– Titus 2:11
