Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29but on #Gen. 19:16, 24, 29; 2 Pet. 2:6, 7the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man #(Matt. 16:27); 1 Cor. 1:7; (Col. 3:4; 2 Thess. 1:7); 1 Pet. 1:7; 4:13; 1 John 2:28is revealed.”
You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put #Acts 7:59; 12:2some of you to death. 17And #Matt. 10:22you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. 18#Matt. 10:30; Luke 12:7But not a hair of your head shall be lost.”
But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have #(Is. 53:5); Acts 10:36; (Eph. 2:14)peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2#(John 10:9; Eph. 2:18; 3:12; Heb. 10:19; 1 Pet. 3:18)through whom also we have access by faith into this grace #1 Cor. 15:1in which we stand, and #Heb. 3:6rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only that, but #Matt. 5:11, 12; (John 16:33; Acts 5:41; 2 Cor. 12:9); James 1:2we also glory in tribulations, #James 1:3knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4#Phil. 2:22; (James 1:12)and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5#Phil. 1:20Now hope does not disappoint, #2 Cor. 1:22; Eph. 1:13because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Then He spoke a parable to them, that men #Luke 11:5–10; Rom. 12:12; (Eph. 6:18); Col. 4:2; 1 Thess. 5:17always ought to pray and not lose heart, 2saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. 3Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ 4And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, 5#Luke 11:8yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ” 6Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. 7And #Rev. 6:10shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? 8I tell you #Heb. 10:37; (2 Pet. 3:8, 9)that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. 7Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for #(Rom. 2:6)whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap #(Rom. 6:8)everlasting life. 9And #1 Cor. 15:58; 2 Cor. 4:1; 2 Thess. 3:13let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap #(Matt. 24:13); Heb. 12:3, 5; (James 5:7, 8)if we do not lose heart. 10#Prov. 3:27; (John 9:4; 12:35)Therefore, as we have opportunity, #Titus 3:8let us do good to all, #Rom. 12:13especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, 13and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.”
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, #(Deut. 26:11–13); Esth. 9:19, 22; Rev. 11:10and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, #Col. 3:8let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and #1 Cor. 9:24; Gal. 2:2; Heb. 10:39let us run #Rom. 12:12; Heb. 10:36with endurance the race that is set before us, 2looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, #Luke 24:26who for the joy that was set before Him #Ps. 69:7, 19; Phil. 2:8; (Heb. 2:9)endured the cross, despising the shame, and #Ps. 110:1has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
